Moonlight
This project was the first time I properly pursued a specific theme. I’d shot stars before and made trails, but when I noticed that with the right in-camera exposure and some post secret sauce that I could mimic day time during the night, I was wrapped by it.
For some of these frames, I needed to borrow pro-tier gear as they rely on shorter shutter speeds and a high ISO in order to minimise movement of subjects and maximise details in the shadows and resolution in the stars. In recent years, finding appropriate gear to achieve these results isn't as difficult as pro-tier quality has filtered down to cheaper DSLRs.
The following are a selection of the images made that I feel are stand outs. In one of the images, the Moon features and appears as if the Sun, which is pretty cool.
I feel these sorts of images can lend an alternative perspective on the night. Under a full moon, the nights can be pretty bright, and as humans are so tightly bound to a night-day cycle, it makes you wonder...
